The Cake Slice Bakers November 2013: Applesauce Spice Cake

A new year has begun with the Cake Slice Bakers and that means we have a new book too. I am excited about our new book and I hope you are too. It's Great Cakes by Carole Walter. There were so many wonderful cake books out there to choose from but in the end this one was it.

Our first cake of the year is an Applesauce Spice Cake. I can't say that this is a totally amazing cake, but it's a good cake. I would serve it with tea or coffee but at my house - well lets just say they didn't feel that it was a dessert. It's a cake that you could easily get away with eating for breakfast. Plus it's got apples and applesauce in it so that makes it healthy..right.

The baking directions say to cook the cake for 50+ minutes but we all found that the cake was ready to go in 35-40 minutes, so if you want to try it please make sure you don't over bake it.

Enjoy!
Heather

  11. Beautiful cake, Heather....and I agree....it didn't have a dessert feel to it as much as it did a breakfast cake. But who doesn't like cake for breakfast, right? Love the dusting of sugar, too! : )
