Foccacia

I have been making this for years. It was originally a bread machine recipe, but I just use my mixer, or by hand and it turns out fine.

It is a good flat bread you can add herbs, sun dried tomatoes, savory seasoning anything and it would be excellent. I love a dough that is so versatile. My favorite is to spread a little olive oil on top then sprinkle with garlic powder and some dried parsley. So yummy.

I also use it as my pizza dough it makes a great chewy crust that is crispy on the bottom.....just perfect for pizza.

Foccacia

1 1/4 cup warm water
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
3 1/3 cups flour*
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon yeast

Mix well then knead until smooth. Let rise until doubled in size. If making foccacia then form into a disk and put on a baking stone, a cookie sheet will work good too, but the bottom gets crispy with the stone. Bake for about 30 min until it turns golden. Enjoy.

* you may need less or more flour depends on the day.

  1. This looks really good and easy to make. Even for those of us that don't like to cook.

  2. I will have to try this! I have an OK recipe for pizza dough but I don't *love* it. I've been on the lookout for a new one for awhile.
