Laundry Soap Questions

I've had a few questions about the laundry soap and since I'm not the best at navigating how to reply to your comments I thought I would just do this instead.

1. I am making the laundry soap to save money, we do a lot of laundry in this house, usually 2-3 loads per day, with some days as many as 6. Lots of laundry.

2. I found the supplies at my Fred Meyer. They were in the laundry aisle. It is the 20 mule team borax and arm and hammer washing soda.

3. For those who are wondering about time, it takes about 20 mins or so, just as long as it takes to grate a bar of soap, then melt it. Everything else is just measure and pour into a bucket which you can do while the soap is melting. Then you have to wait overnight to use it. I figure that 20 minutes of my time is cheaper than the laundry soap that I usually buy.

4. It's only been a week using it, but our clothes, sheets, towels, rugs, blankets all seem just as clean as they were before. I do still use fabric softener as we have well water and you need it here. I also still use oxyclean for stains like I would have before.

Please if you have more questions I am happy to answer them.

  1. That is A LOT of laundry!! Wow. :)
I only have to do about 6 loads per week so you can see that the cheap laundry detergent I buy lasts a really long time, but I can understand why you'd want to do this.

Hope you have a beautiful weekend,
    Linda
