As I have said in the past birthday dessert isn't always cake and for K last night was no exception. Last weekend we were cuddling on the couch watching TV, okay cooking and they were making baked apples. As soon as they had the finished product he said that was what he wanted for his birthday instead of cake. I was fine with that, no leftovers cake to eat, no sugar high, no more adding to the padding on me, no problem.
They turned out okay they were good, just not everything that I was hoping for. I did make a few modifications knowing that the boys don't like nuts and cranberries. I am attaching the link for the recipe, like I said I modified it a bit so it might have been better if I had left it as it should have been.

Sounds good--like an inside out apple crisp. My husband doesn't like very over the top, sweet, rich desserts like cheesecake, chocolate, etc. This sounds like a dessert he would love!
